Americans With Disabilities Act

Arrangements for persons with disabilities will be provided upon request, in conformance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Professional documentation in support of a candidate request for accommodation must be submitted to Software Certifications no later than sixty (60) days prior to any scheduled examination sitting. Candidates may be contacted by Software Certifications for clarification of any information provided.

Requests must be accompanied by documentation of candidate disability which is sufficient to explain the need for any accommodations. In most cases, such documentation need only be a description of the disability and any desired accommodation. However, when requesting accommodation for a disability that is not easily verified (e.g. learning disability requiring special test design), candidates must include a letter from an appropriate professional (e.g., physician, psychologist, occupation therapist, educational specialist) or evidence of prior diagnosis or accommodation (e.g., special education services). Any professional providing documentation should have knowledge of candidate's disability, have diagnosed and/or evaluated the candidate, or have provided the accommodation for the candidate. This letter must be on official stationery and include the following information:

Requests for special accommodations are reviewed by the Director of Certification, who notifies candidates of the status/disposition of their request at least 30 days before the examination date. Failure to notify the Software Certifications of needed accommodations may result in the accommodations not being available at the time of the examination. Candidates who have already been granted the accommodation need not submit documentation again for any subsequent examination resits.

Software Certifications acknowledges the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and will offer the examination in a center and manner which is accessible to persons with disabilities or offer alternative arrangements for candidates with disabilities. Candidates failing to provide documentation and who do not meet the physical qualifications of the examination location will not be eligible to sit for the examination.
