Certification Credentials
Successful candidates will receive a letter of notification and certificate.
Verification of Certification
The Software Certifications often receives inquiries from current and prospective employers concerning the status of an individual's certification. The response given to these requests is one of
three:
- The person is actively certified and has been certified since 19xx/20xx.
-
The person is not currently certified, but was certified from 19xx/20xx
until 19xx/20xx.
- We have no record of that individual being certified.
No score information, opinions, or judgments concerning the certificant are provided.Change of Information
It is critical that certificants keep their program records up to date. Many certificants change their residence or job situations during their certification lifespan. Others change their name as a result of marriage or divorce. If any such changes occur, it is the certificant's responsibility to update their User Profile information using the pages on the Software Certifications Portal.
Credentials Replacement
If a certificant desires replacement credentials, they can be requested using the Request for Replacement Credentials
form. Common reasons include lost or damaged originals, or name changes (the Change of Records
form must be submitted to report a name change). Note: New credentials are issued without additional charge after each successful recertification cycle. Replacement credentials should only be requested if they are desired before the next recertification cycle.
Revocation / Decertification
Revocation of a certification, or decertification, results from a certificant failing to reasonably adhere to the policies and procedures of Software Certifications as defined by the Software Certifications Board.
A certification may be revoked by the Board for the following reasons:
- Falsifying information on the initial application and/or a CPE reporting form,
- Failure to abide by and support the Software Certifications Code of Ethics,
- Failure to submit the required continuing education credits toward recertification as required, or
- Failure to submit the required recertification fees as required.
Upon revocation, the certificant is requested to return their current certification credentials. A certificant may appeal a revocation at any time by communicating, in writing, directly with the Board.
