Real-World Experience Documentation: CMST

Candidates for the CMST Certification MUST submit Real-World Experience documentation to demonstrate that they have developed real solutions to challenges in their IT organizations. This must be done for three (3) of the seven (7) categories listed below:
  1. Test Planning
  2. Test Reporting
  3. Managing Test Execution
  4. Define, deploy and improve work processes
  5. Measurement
  6. Organizational Development (teams and management)
  7. Communication (leadership and behavioral skills)
As a guide to help prepare the Real-World Experience documentation view the Checklist. The checklist ties specific skills defined in the Guide to the CSTE CBOK to the seven categories listed above. If a candidate decides that one of these items is not applicable for their “experience” documentation, an explanation of why that item is not applicable must be included with the submitted documentation.

IMPORTANT:
Until the Real World Experience documentation has been submitted and approved by the ISCB the candidate will NOT be able to schedule their CMST exam.

How to Submit
The Real-World Experience documentation (hard-copy) for each of the (3) categories selected is to be submitted to the Software Certifications division via courier using the address below.
Software Certifications
2101 Park Center Drive
Suite 205
Orlando, FL 32835-7614
Attn: Review Board - Real World Experience
The documentation may also be submitted in soft-copy format to the following email: rw@softwarecertifications.org.

Review Process
Real World Experience submissions received will be reviewed, and if they pass the initial review they will then be sent to the International Software Certification Board (ISCB) for final evaluation. Once the board has completed the final evaluation you will then receive an email with the outcome.

Submissions are sent to the ISCB at the end of the month so the review process could take anywhere from 2 to 8 weeks depending on when the submission was made so we ask that you be patient.

If the documentation in a category or categories is found to be insufficient to meet the acceptance criteria, feedback will be given to the candidate on the deficiencies and allowed one opportunity to resubmit corrected documentation.
